Jyotsana Dasoondi

Hi guys, I’m Jyotsana and I’m excited to run for section editor of Felix! I have previously written for Felix myself and I am aware of how daunting it can be to show someone a piece of writing that you have worked so hard on. It’s nerve-wracking, but also incredibly rewarding! The process has made me understand the need for a section editor to work collaboratively, supporting the writer, making them even more excited to bring their ideas to life.

My goal is to guide writers through their creative journey while respecting their unique voices and ideas. As a section editor, I’ll emphasise open communication and teamwork, ensuring every piece reflects the best of our collective efforts. Working as a part-time tutor during term, I’ve developed excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. This experience has taught me how to clearly explain ideas, actively listen, and build a strong rapport with others – all essential for editing a successful section in Felix.

Felix is a vital platform for championing student voices. We are able to come together every week to share what is interesting and important to us as individuals and a community. Even our own university isn’t above thoughtful scrutiny when it comes to addressing the concerns of the student body. That is what makes Felix so special. I’d love to be a part of making Felix an even more welcoming, innovative, and exciting place for Imperial, helping to share the news that matters most to us.
