Gender Equality: Community Engagement Officer

Hi, I'm Sijin (Christina). I'm honored to be running as your Gender Equality Community Engagement Officer. I am committed to standing for women in STEM and working towards a more gender-equal university environment. My vision is for a campus where more women feel safe, seen, and valued.

What kind of environment I aim to create for women:

1. Be Valued: I will actively seek and create opportunities for women to realize their personal potential with more support and less social prejudice. To prevent the Matilda Effect (the phenomenon of women's achievements being erased and robbed), we need more recognition for women who make significant contributions in their fields.

2. Be Seen: I believe that by raising the gender awareness of our future engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs, they will be better placed to empathise with women and design products that are more responsive to women's needs.
For example, ergonomic chairs and car cockpits should be designed with women's bodies in mind, take into account the physiological differences between men and women.

3. Be Heard: I am here to support anyone who cares about women's rights and welfare. I will listen to your concerns, represent our community, and work tirelessly to make our voices heard.

I will try my best to make gender equality a reality on our campus.

I am Sijin Wu, Please vote for me! ;)
