ICSMSU: Welfare Chair

Heyyy, I’m Iolanthe and I’m running to be your Welfare Chair! As the current Welfare Vice-Chair, I have learnt so much working closely with our current Chair, FEO Welfare, Faculty, student reps and SU to support our ICSM community in any way I can.

In my roles as a Rep and Vice-Chair, I have been actively involved in amplifying the student voice in matters such as SSLG awareness, placement satisfaction, the Raising Concerns process and Travel Re-Imbursement scheme, to name a few.

In this role, I would want to:

  • Continue ongoing work on travel support/ funding
  • Increase safety awareness on and around campus so every student feels safe, always having someone they can go to
  • Streamline the student feedback process, combining ICSMSU and SOLE surveys to standardise SSLGs
  • Reliably update students on discussions happening in SSLGs and the actions brought about by their feedback
  • Further empower student voice, implementing Q&A sessions for each cohort with their reps to discuss their concerns directly with Faculty
  • Continue the work of our current Welfare Chair, Kete, enhancing EDI within MBBS
  • Identify and tackle key Welfare issues raised year-on-year, ensuring every student feels valued and able to succeed within a community shaped by our ICSM Core Values.

My experience within the Welfare stream means I understand the intricacies of the role and my active involvement in campaigns, student support and close relationship with FEO Welfare make me a great candidate, allowing me to further build-on and advance my Welfare achievements so far.
