To all subjects of Imperial Corporate London:
23% of this country's overall fee income is from international student fees. If they could legally overcharge home fee students, they would. And they do try. They’ve admitted students under international status, only to DENY their offers once they discovered they could pay home fees. You are disposable the minute they can't squeeze more money out of you.
Why am I working two part-time jobs and still unable to cover 10% of tuition for my family? Why are we paying 40k a year, yet the staff are chronically underpaid? Where did the money go??? This is not normal, we should not DEFEND this.
I applaud those who lobbied against rent increases in student accommodation, but that is not how you stop the Orphan Crushing Machine. What good will a rent hikes stall do if they just double tuition fees the next moment.
This is no longer a place for learning. They are here to sell hopes, to sell the Imperial brand. But that's just it, the only thing standing between profit and the stockholders is their fragile reputation. And guess who holds that reputation? Us.
Once we recognise our power, we can weaponise it. We can demand more UROP funding, financial transparency, and even fixed tuition fees.
This university is bleeding us dry while making our lives, our families' lives hell. Let us win this, and make Imperial pay it's biggest hater to DEMOLISH all its lies.
