I’m Nico, your current DP Welfare, running for Union President!
Since finishing my physics degree, I’ve made real changes for students. In 7 months, I’ve made significant progress on my manifesto points, with some evolving while maintaining the same priorities.
Here are some highlights:
- Co-led rent negotiations securing fairer housing, freezing affordable rates, and reducing a 30% rent hike.
- Secured Living Wage increases and influenced policy changes on recommended working hours.
- Set up weekly drop-ins so you can raise concerns and hold me accountable.
Now, I want to build a more inclusive, collaborative, and responsive Union.
Inclusive
- We should offer better support in private rentals, especially finding housing.
- I’ll push for more job opportunities for students.
- I'll advocate for more scholarships for underrepresented students globally
- Continue advocating for convenient accessible prayer spaces.
Collaborative
- When not in use, I'd repurpose Metric as a collaborative workspace or study café.
- Continue advocating for green spaces on campus, involving you in the design and construction.
- I’ll host termly open forums with university management to discuss Imperial’s investments, research ties, and global impact.
- We need stronger student influence over Imperial’s investments, ensuring they reflect our values—shaped through consultation and collective input.
Responsive
- I’ll support the DPCS to remove barriers for societies, making it easier to do what you love. Engage more with societies, showcase your work, cut decision times.
- As Imperial expands and the student population increases, study spaces and common rooms should reflect this. I'll ensure every campus is heard.
