Hi everyone! I'm Marissa and I'm currently a first year molecular bioengineering student :)
I am committed to representing the voices of all students and ensuring that our department fosters an environment of academic excellence, inclusivity, and innovation. If elected as your Departmental Academic Representative, I will work closely with students, faculty, and the wider college leadership to drive meaningful change and enhance the student experience. My goal is to create a more supportive, transparent, and enriching academic environment where every student feels heard and empowered.
One of my key priorities is strengthening student representation. I will actively gather feedback through surveys, open forums, and one-on-one discussions to ensure that all concerns and suggestions are brought forward. Transparency is essential, and I will provide regular updates on departmental developments, making sure that students are informed about key decisions and changes affecting their education. By advocating for student concerns in meetings with faculty and the student union, I will ensure that our collective voice is heard and acted upon.
Another crucial area I will focus on is enhancing academic support. I will work towards improving access to lecture materials, recordings, and supplementary resources to ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed. Additionally, I will push for more interactive learning opportunities, such as hands-on workshops, problem-solving sessions, and industry-led talks, to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.
