Biological Sciences at Imperial College London is such a versatile degree, and I want to ensure my fellow students get the most out of their academic experience here. As academic rep I'll be responsive, proactive, and activily lobbying to better our student experience.
Step one is making sure we all get the grades we deserve. I''ll act as the voice of students in student-staff communication and stand for reasonable deadlines, marking, and workload, as well as clear instructions for assignments. I want to make sure none of us ever feel out of control of our grades. This will become especially important as we enter second year and marks start to matter more. More academic stress calls for more active and clear communication with staff, and I'll make sure all student concerns are heard.
Step two is making sure we all know where our grades can take us. I've spent a lot of time speaking and meeting with both alumni and staff that have graduated from our degree or similar and have gone into careers ranging from forensics to pharmaceuticals, and from luxury product design to even high finance. I have significant knowledge regarding the career prospects of this degree, and as academic rep, want to organise events and open communication between students and staff/alumni to demonstrate exactly what leveraging both our degree and our university's reputation can do.
Thank you for your faith in me as academic rep. I won't let you down.
