Huaihou Yang
Interfaith Officer
I am Huaihou Yang, a Biomedical Engineering student and Council Representative (UG Engineering) at ICU. I am running for the position of Interfaith Officer to promote a healing and friendly multi-faith environment at Imperial. If elected, I will focus on the following goals:
- Organise the Interfaith Forum: I will foster interconnection and mutual understanding among followers of various religions at Imperial. While there are currently 15 faith-related CSPs at the ICU, I also recognise the close ties between certain cultural societies and religions. I will maintain active communication with all relevant groups.
- Collaborate with the Imperial Chaplaincy and Multi-faith Centre: I will support and promote their existing activities and services, such as the monthly Connect Lunch and Gardening Club, to ensure they reach a wider audience.
- Provide Space for Spiritual Practices: I will ensure students have access to spaces and opportunities for prayer, meditation, and other spiritual practices.
- Promote Mindfulness Meditation: As someone on track to become an accredited Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, I will host an 8-week meditation session in the future. This initiative will benefit both faith-based and secular students, particularly from a mental health perspective.
- Uphold Religious Rights and Freedom: As a member of the Union Council, I will ensure the Union’s policies align with the needs of diverse religious groups. My goal is to create an inclusive environment where no one faces discrimination for their beliefs and all students can practice freely.
Please vote for me, and together, let’s build this loving and compassionate community at Imperial.
