Hello everyone, I’m Julia! I’ve been dedicated to making Imperial more sustainable since my first year here, and I want to take this further to amplify your impact as your Environment & Ethics officer.
My main goals are:
1. Advocate for action from the union and college
It’s time that Imperial policies reflected student opinions! We’re one of the last Russell Group unis yet to divest from fossil fuels, and we’re far behind on single-use plastic reduction. Many of our courses also don’t provide enough sustainable education for working in a world affected by the climate crisis. As your Eth&Env officer, I’ll push for actions from the union and university to address these issues.
2. Act as a hub to support communication between initiatives
There are so many amazing initiatives across Imperial’s CSPs, departments, Grantham, and the business school! To maximize your impact, I’d use the eth&env network to share resources, advertise and fund events, and connect you with the right people to catalyse campaigns. I’d also support the continued success of inter-society collaborations like the Green Careers Fair!
3. Increase student involvement
I want to ensure every student has opportunities to make an impact! I’ll support events like forums so your voice can be heard, as well as planting and upcycling workshops, where you can make Imperial greener and build sustainable habits.
