I’m Yasmin, and I hope to be your Student Trustee!
With extensive leadership experience - serving as ICSMSU Deputy President and holding 35 society committee positions over five years, including presidential roles - I have been deeply involved in governance, student advocacy, and strategic decision-making at Imperial. My involvement with iBSc management has strengthened my strategic oversight and ability to work within structured decision-making frameworks. I’ve chaired faculty meetings, collaborated with stakeholders and driven multiple initiatives that led to significant long-term tangible improvements.
Now, I want to bring key student issues to the table and ensure the Union remains accountable, transparent, and responsive. I want to be a Student Trustee to amplify all student voices - undergraduates, postgraduates, and intercalating students - at the highest levels of governance.
Key Issues I Will Champion:
- Cost of Living Support - Keep Union and CSP-led events affordable, expand financial hardship resources, and advocate for part-time jobs.
- Diversity & Inclusion - Strengthen cultural and religious CSP engagement, enhance international student representation, improve student spaces, and push for diverse food options.
- Student Wellbeing - Improve mental health support and tackle loneliness, especially for postgraduates and international students.
- Financial Transparency - Ensure fair budgeting and clarity on fund allocation for student initiatives.
- Sustainability - Uphold COP28-aligned policies, promote best practices in CSP activities, and lobby for climate action.
With my leadership experience and passion for advocacy, I am committed to making Imperial better for all students.
