Hey everyone! My name is Salik and I am excited to be running as your Mental health officer this year. Let’s be real—Imperial is hard. The deadlines pile up, the workload is relentless, and sometimes it feels like you need a degree just to figure out where to get support. I don’t want anyone struggling in silence. Mental health should be just as much of a priority as physical health, and I’m here to make sure it is.
If you vote for me, I’ll push for:
- Shorter waiting times for counselling – Because by the time you actually get an appointment, you shouldn’t already have finished your degree.
- A peer support network – Sometimes, you just need to vent to someone who gets it. I’ll make sure there’s always a friendly face to talk to.
- Therapy pet visits & mindfulness sessions – Stressed? Let’s bring in some adorable dogs (or cats, no discrimination here) and find ways to de-stress without the guilt trip.
- Chill creative spaces & art therapy – Because a bit of paint and a break from university chaos can do wonders for your brain.
- Fairer deadlines & better faculty support – Your mental well-being is just as important as your coursework and it deserves equal attention. I’ll push for reasonable deadlines, better extenuating circumstances policies, and proper faculty training so students actually feel supported.
Imperial shouldn’t just be about surviving-it should be a place where everyone feels supported, valued, and enjoys their time here.
Thank you
