Hello! I’m Rishi, a third-year medical student running to be your Academic Officer (BSc Year)!
BSc year is a huge shift—it’s exciting but also comes with unique challenges. As someone stepping into it at the same time as you, I’ll be in the best position to push for changes that actually matter. I won’t just hear your concerns—I’ll experience them firsthand and work to fix them in real time.
My Priorities:
-
Fairer Grading Across BScs & Standardisation: Some BScs have more lenient marking, making it much easier to secure a First or Dean’s List, while others are notoriously harsh. I will push for a fairer grading system to ensure your success isn’t dictated by which BSc you pick.
-
Better Support for Research & Assessments: Many BScs expect students to dive into complex research and statistics with minimal guidance. I’ll work to improve research training, dissertation support, and access to supervisors so you feel equipped for success.
-
Increased transparency regarding faculty SSLG discussions: Ensure everyone in the year is aware of what changes are being implemented and what crucial matters are being discussed between staff and the students.
BSc year should be rewarding, fair, and well-supported—I’m here to make sure that happens. I’m ready to listen, advocate, and act - not just as your representative but as someone going through the same experience alongside you.
Vote me and we can make BSc year one of our best years!
