Chemistry (UG): Departmental Wellbeing Representative

Hey Everyone!

My name is Greta and I’m running for Chemistry UG Departmental Wellbeing Representative. I am determined to maintain and nurture the supportive environment in the Chemistry Department to ensure every individual feels valued and empowered to achieve their best. However, this isn’t all about getting the best academic achievement; mental health and emotional support are equally (if not more) important. In fact, I believe you’re most likely to succeed if you’re taking care of yourself and your wellbeing.

As a second year Chemist, I understand how difficult it is to separate our lives from our degrees, specifically from academic pressures and how this can take a toll on our mental and physical health. It is therefore essential to have concrete resources for improving wellbeing.

As Wellbeing Representative, I will ensure that mental health support is accessible and that physical health (maybe some relaxing yoga sessions...) becomes a more integrated part of Chemistry Wellbeing. Peer support and open communication should be prioritised.

At the end of the day I just want everyone to have a fab time, feel and do their best!
