Computing (UG): Departmental Wellbeing Representative

Ever stuck in the Huxley labs at seven staring at your Haskell PPT, WACC or FYP, and start questioning about your existence?

Your Mental Health is arguably more equally as important as your degree, and as your departmental wellbeing rep, I will ensure that:

  1. Your voices are heard by the DoC Senior Tutors and Wellbeing Advisor:
Share your views for a better balance of courseworks, exams and time for hobbies to the department. It's work-life balance after all, not work-work balance.
  2. Collaborating with DoCSoc for more mental health related events for students:
Barnights and Movie viewing are great, but so are more zen activities, such as mediation and painting sessions, where we can all just slow down and enjoy the present.
  3. More dog therapy session, like wayyyyyyy more:
who let the dogs out woof woof (Dog > DoC)

I also propose the following:

  1. A giant punchable duck in the big lab just for you to vent out all your anger when your code does not compile.
  2. Student-staff socials where we can know each other better.
  3. More bean bags everywhere.
  4. removing monads in the Haskell Final Test.

Feel free to share your views to me and find me through insta, email or LinkedIn if you have more suggestions!

With love,
Darren (vote for me for DoCSoc Marketing and Publicity Officer as well pretty please 🥹)
