Hello everyone!

I'm Phillip, and I'm a first year running for Departmental Wellbeing Representative in the Maths Department. As your representative, I am determined to create a more friendly and sociable atmosphere here in Huxley. More specifically, I will:

1) Offer a greater variety of social events - Hyde Park picnics, board games, Ramadan events! Loneliness is a real problem in our department, but it is not insurmountable. Though the department already runs events like Chinese New Year and the Beach Day, not everyone turns up to them - which is a shame! I will seek your feedback for planning events, so that everyone in maths feels included and is able to meet like-minded peers.

2) More free food - we all love free food! A lot of mathematicians skip breakfast, but there should be no need - I will ensure that the department regularly provides free breakfasts like those at DoCSoc, giving you another opportunity to meet more people and fill your stomachs.

3) Greater use of the Maths Common Room - this room often feels a bit empty... but this can change! A Mahjong set, perhaps an air fryer or rice cooker?? - I will consult you guys for new ideas, so that we can make the MCR as lively as the JCR.
