Biochemistry (UG): Departmental Wellbeing Representative
Biochem is stressful!
And I want to make your life a little easier. Biochemistry is very often challenging, and I want to ensure everyone feels supported and heard.
My plans:
- 🎉 Wellbeing and Social Events - continuing regular stress-relief activities like arts and crafts, gardening, free food and drinks, plus small social events in collaboration with Biochem Soc to encourage friendships and brighten up your week.
- More importantly... 📚 Academic and Wellbeing Balance - feel like Term 2 is absolutely soul-crushing? I will advocate for deadline flexibility and for deadlines to be more evenly distributed to avoid burnout, and introduce a weekly online form to identify and solve problems as soon as they come up.
- 💬 Enacting Change - introducing an anonymous feedback box in the Life Sci common room and regular drop-in sessions to ensure student voices are heard. As a very strong-willed person, I will work with year representatives to ensure that our concerns are addressed by the department in SSC meetings.
I’m committed to making our course one where everyone can thrive-- academically, socially, and personally-- we don't need to live and breathe biochem.
