ICSMSU: Welfare Vice Chair - Medical Biosciences

Hi, I’m Rhea, a first-year Medical Biosciences with Management student, and I’m running to be your next Welfare Vice Chair for BMB! Welfare is about more than crisis support; it’s about ensuring every BMB student has access to the right networks, opportunities, and a genuine sense of belonging within ICSM.

Why Me?

  • I am passionate about ensuring every BMB student feels valued and supported
  • I have lots of experience advocating for communities, earning awards from the mayors of both RBKC and H&F for my work
  • As co-chair of my secondary school’s Equality & Diversity Committee and founder of our South Asian Society, I have experience building inclusive, supportive communities—and I’m ready to do the same for BMB.

My Action Plan

  • BMB and MBBS students share teaching spaces, academic overlap, and even study interests—yet our courses feel disconnected. I will push for cross-course study groups, shared events, and closer academic collaboration to make BMB feel like a true part of the medical school community.
  • The third year is crucial for career decisions, yet many students feel lost about their options. Drawing on my own internship experience at Rothschild, I will broaden our professional network by introducing a speaker series with pharmaceutical firms, biotech companies, and private equity professionals, ensuring that all BMB students have the confidence that early exposure to career opportunities can bring.

Vote Rhea to Make BMB a more connected community!
