Dennis Jian

My name is Dennis Jian, and I am a first-year EFDS student. Back in August, I ran for the role of Year 1 Academic Representative with a simple goal: to help my cohort achieve great things at Imperial and have a pleasant university experience.

Since then, I have been dedicated to supporting my peers with their academic concerns, actively making changes for my cohort, and frequently communicating with the programme team to resolve issues. During this time, I learned a lot from the previous Departmental reps, Himanshi and Jiaqi, and I hope to deliver the same success and push for greater things for the entire department.

Having worked as a full-time gap year Development Assistant at a top high school in the UK last year, I am familiar with the inner workings of an educational institution and am deeply passionate about improving the learning experience for students. In that role, I acted as a bridge between staff and students, implementing multiple programs to enrich the student learning experience and foster connections with the alumni community. I believe I can apply my transferable skills and work with dedication to contribute effectively as your Departmental Academic Representative.
