Hey guys!! I'm Leon, a fresher at Imperial and I'm running for Vice President for 2025-2026. I think the main motivation for me to run for this position this year is that I have realised that whilst other unis' maths societies have been organising a lot of events, this year Imperial mathsoc seems to be lacking some creativity and ambition. And I want to change that.
Firstly I'm thinking about introducing a new system of roles in the committee called freshers representatives/ junior executives where we hold elections at the first two weeks to select reps for the freshers cohort to oversee the new students and communicate their endeavours to the society. Indeed, as a fresher myself I understand that with all our energy with nowhere to contribute to, having a voice to speak through would be extremely important. Moreover I would like to put in place more collaborations with other societies and departments within Imperial, even organise more networking events for London unis, or even daytrips to oxford or cambridge or warwick who knows! The ICMS website has also not been updated for a while and I feel like if I could be given the power of the vice president, I would like to fully address this issue by incorporating more information and more fun activities like puzzlehunts and bounty problemm proposals.
There's just so much more that Imperial Math can offer and I hope to make 2025-2026 one of the best years yet!
