Hey everyone! I'm Royce, and I would love to be your DoCSoc president for the next academic year. As one of this year’s events officers and IC Hack team leads, I’m eager to use the experience I’ve gained to strengthen our society’s presence, influence, and impact. This includes expanding our reach with more industry connections/sponsorships, as well as enhancing our internal experiences to engage all members (from undergrad to postgrad)!
As a concrete example, here are my main initiatives:
- IC Hack 26: I want to build on this year's experience with localised improvements like weekend-long activities and better (hacker-requested!) snacks/drinks, alongside broader goals such as growing our outreach, sponsors and size (especially since we won’t have the Great Hall next year!).
- Clearer Communications: I will continue building on our momentum by improving transparency between our members and committee to better shape our events and initiatives. This means updates on what’s happening behind the scenes, more chances for feedback, and acting on your suggestions, whether through forms, mailshots, or general conversations!
- Events/Mums and Dads(!): This ties into wanting to make our events (academic and social) broader and more engaging, especially with the restructuring of our events division. I'm committed to leading events effectively and also, as such, integrating MaDs into our wider event planning. We’ve seen great initiatives already, but I'd love to provide more family-specific opportunities to benefit incoming freshers and parents (e.g. sports/bigger budgets!).
