Oscar Cunningham

Hi, my name is Oscar, and I would like to be your President next year. I’m campaigning for this role as the hockey club has meant a lot to me during my first three years at Imperial, and I want to continue giving back to such an important part of my life.

My vision for the hockey club is to continue building on the work done by Marshy and Kas. I know I have enjoyed the vast majority of my time at the club, so I only think small tweaks are necessary. This is anything from training times, which I know have caused issues this year, to having a permanent coach to teach the beginner teams technique.

I have held two committee positions so far in my time at ICHC. Last year as mixed captain, I helped return mixed hockey to being a regular event in the club. I love mixed hockey, because it has helped me make friends across the club that I might not have met otherwise. This year I have held the more organisational role of fixture secretary. I’ve been in charge of hassling people to get umpire qualified and to officiate games. As anyone who has gotten qualified will tell you, I am very tenacious, especially when it comes to hockey.

I love this sport and I love this club. My previous exec experience has prepared me well for this role, and I would really appreciate the chance to continue improving on such a fantastic institution.
