I’m Douglas, fresh PhD student in Physics. As a former Academic Rep, I understand well on college regulations and compliance. I studied Corporate Finance and worked in the club’s Careers Department, organising events on financial sectors and consulting firms, sparking my interest in this position. Co-founding a Board Game Club, I successfully increased club assets by 30%. Recently, I worked closely with the club, managing event finance and formulating a co-held debit account for better transparency.
The role of a Treasurer extends beyond managing funds, ensuring transparency, sustainability, and growth. Effective resource allocation, financial health, and securing sponsorships are key to supporting sponsor-led events and student-led initiatives. By managing these flows, a Treasurer ensures the club’s long-term stability and maximises the impact of every event for its members.
Hence, based on my experience, I propose the champion:
- Represent: Attend 100% of club/union meetings. Provide financial updates within 24 hours.
- Monitor: Identify and report financial discrepancies within 12 hours, with proposed solutions.
- Report: Share monthly financial updates and submit formal reports to the committee. Hold weekly check-ins during peak seasons.
- Budge Plan: Devote effort to collaborative budge creation with the committee and members
Also, with the next year's Policies & Aim:
- Regular Updates: Deliver monthly financial summaries (by the 5th) and
- Digitalisation: Implement a standardised finance system, with full committee training.
- Consultancy: Facilitate connections with external organisations to enhance financial support.
I will ensure financial stability and accountability for our club. Together, we can build a stronger, more sustainable future!
