The Role of Treasurer is more important than people may think, especially for the day-to-day activities of the boat club.

A key part of this role is the management of existing funds, increasing the allowance given by the Union for the next year, and raking in funds from various events. The TGA fund is incredibly crucial but has had its downfalls in having enough booze and barely creating enough profit for later subsidies.

One shortcoming is the inability to invest this money or manage it properly. With thousands of pounds, many benefits can be found from proper management of money. This is more evident when it comes to camp flights and bookings. With everyone booking flights separately no one can get the best deal, and many wait until too late and are forced into different flights.

A centralised approach, much like schools do, could create more benefits through discounts and loyalty programs. This can have meaningful change for later years, with credit cards offering rewards.

Finally, the kit committe will partner with the treasurer to ensure no extortionate pricing on clothing, and sponsorships will be secured in a way that benefits all the boat club athletes by means of subsidised clothing, performance nutrition and freebies on the regular. To create the highest chance of an increase in union funding, we need to secure a good relationship with them by demonstrating teamwork, results and efficiency.
