Paphon Susikakosol

Hello! My name is Paphon. I'm studying physics in my third year, and I am standing for secretary of Astrosoc.

As your secretary, I will:

1. Fulfill my responsibilities, including room and transport bookings, writing emails, and helping with event organisation. I have been secretary of a society for a year so I'm very familiar with Union processes.

2. Push for and organise more stargazing events. Our stargazing sessions have always been popular, so we can and should do more! Particularly, I am pushing for:

• Weekly stargazing on the Blackett balcony. This can be preceded with a talk on astronomy by our members or researchers working on astronomy.
• Monthly trips to Silwood Park. With fairly dark sky just an hour away from us, we can make this trip regular. Plus, this is also a nice event for people living and studying there.
• Termly (or more) trips to dark sky sites. I have enjoyed our yearly trips to Dartmoor, but we can and should do more! I will push for termly trips to dark sky sites like Brecon Beacons or Exmoor.

3. Liaise with other societies. I can help maintain our relations with other societies like Fellwanderers and Physoc and do more events with them, and also build relations with new societies.

4. Work with other members of the committee to deliver these events for members throughout the year.
