Prachur Khandelwal

Hello, my name is Prachur! Having dedicated myself as a subcommittee member and general executive, I have gained further invaluable insights into the importance of finances in the society's operations. Thus, I am now excited to progress further in contributing to the society by taking on the role of Treasurer.

As General Executive, I have organised the planning of several events this year: Foundation Skills in Surgery, Introduction to Surgery and Colorectal Surgery masterclass. Through doing so, I have developed a solid foundational understanding of the financial logistics involved in our Surgical Society events, such as creating an event budget, submitting purchase orders and finding sponsorships. Furthermore, having served as Indian Society President, Treasurer for Friends of Medicine Sans Fronteirs, Finance Officer for Youth MedAid London and Sponsorship Officer for SORA, I have further developed the leadership, communication, and collaborative skills necessary to excel in this role and have gained a thorough understanding of how the Union works.

My aims would be to:

1) Create a booklet outlining common finance-related Q&As- for example, claiming back money, submitting purchase orders and guidance on how to create an event budget as the union pages can often be confusing.

2) Supporting the society's aims to successfully balance the delivery of financially viable events whilst still providing students with invaluable experiences at competitive prices.
