Chemical Engineering: Industrial Relations and Sponsorship Officer

Hey everyone!

I’m Charlene, and you might’ve seen me at the SME Career Fair as part of the Industrial Relations subcommittee. When I first started chemical engineering, I felt lost and didn’t know what the industry was like. But after attending plant visits, career fairs, and company presentations, I gained so much insight and it made me love chemical engineering even more! Now, I want to help YOU do the same.

Here’s what I want to do if I get your vote:

  1. More Opportunities for You!
I’ll organize career fairs with companies from industries like sustainability, consulting, and oil & gas. I’ll also organize CV workshops to help you improve your CV and get ready for internship applications and interviews. These events will help you explore your interests and connect with opportunities.
  2. Company Visits & Job Shadowing:
I know Imperial’s job shadowing scheme is competitive, so I’ll work on creating more opportunities for us. Company visits will give you a real sense of what a chemical engineer’s daily life looks like.
  3. Connect with Alumni & Industry Pros:
I’ll make it easier to connect with alumni through networking events and panels. I’ll also organize Instagram takeovers where alumni can share what a day in their life as a chemical engineer looks like and answer your questions. It’s a great way to learn from their experiences and get advice on navigating the industry.

I’m committed to helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry experience. Your support will make this possible!

Thank you!
