Biochemistry: Social Events Officer

Hi everyone! I’m Yuvraj Gupta, a first-year Biochemistry student, and I’m running for Social Events Officer to make our department more fun, connected, and—no offense—actually social.

Biochemistry can be intense, but that doesn’t mean our social lives should be as lifeless as an expired reagent. Whether you thrive on big nights out or prefer casual hangouts, I want to organize events that bring everyone together, no matter their vibe.

If elected, I would:

  • Host inter-year mixers – Because struggling through labs is better with friends who’ve been there before.
  • Biochemistry Kitchens – Why should medics and chemists have all the fun? Let’s experiment in the kitchen (safely, of course) and cook together—because titrating pancake batter is way more fun than titrating acids.
  • Plan diverse social events – From club nights and karaoke to relaxed movie and board game evenings, there’s something for everyone.
  • Upgrade our clubbing scene – Not just the usual Embargos or Ministry, but fresh, exciting venues where no one spends half the night stuck in a queue.
  • Collaborate with other universities – Inter-university events to expand our social circle beyond just recognizing people in lab coats.
  • Organize career networking nights – Because sometimes, the best career advice comes over a pint rather than a PowerPoint.

I’m committed to making BiochemSoc the place to be—inside and outside the lab. Vote Yuvraj Gupta for Social Events Officer—because Biochemistry may be complicated, but our social lives don’t have to be!
