Hey everyone! I’m Isabella, a first year Biochemistry student, running for Social Events Officer next year!
Biochemistry isn’t just about molecules—it’s about the people, connections, and memories we create together. That’s why I’m determined to make next year’s socials unforgettable! From boat parties to chill pottery painting classes, and even Wild West nights out at Embargos, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
My goals as Social Events Officer?
1. Build a stronger community between the years
- Inter-year group mixers – organising events that bring people together from across the years, allowing you to meet new people and share advice.
2. Diverse events for everyone
- Coffee shop & Bakery Crawls - Not a fan of pub crawls? From personal experience, being a lightweight makes chugging down a pint at each stop not the most enjoyable. Instead, let’s introduce something more chill - exploring the best bakeries and coffee spots in London (and yes, it’ll make for a very aesthetic Instagram story).
- Cook offs – organised within your BiochemFam – compete with your interdepartmental parents/siblings, strengthening your relationships and potentially even your cooking skills.
- Karaoke nights – belt out your favourite tunes with your friends!
3. Increasing accessibility
- Affordable events – exploring sponsorship opportunities to subsidise larger events as I want to ensure every member of the Biochemistry society feels welcome and included.
- Convenient location – prioritising on-campus or nearby venues to minimise travel costs.
Count on me to catalyse your socials, no activation energy required! 🔥
