Nivi Parthieban

General Practice (ICSM): President

My name is Nivi and I am a 4th-year medical student! I’m running for President of GP Society because I want to enhance education, improve student engagement, and challenge outdated perceptions of General Practice.

Medical societies have provided me with some of the most valuable teaching I’ve received—whether through peer-led revision sessions or career insights from experienced doctors. Now, I want to give back and ensure GP Society is an accessible, supportive and engaging community.

As your President, I will:

  • Transform GP Placements – Advocate for longer GP slots during placement days. This will allow us to discuss key conditions in depth, engage in meaningful patient interactions, and learn in a safe, low-pressure environment.
  • Create a Mentorship Scheme – Pair junior students with experienced peers to provide structured guidance on study resources, placements and career advice.
  • Host a Multi-Specialty Networking Event – Partner with specialty societies to organise a careers panel for Q&A and networking with leading doctors.
  • Increase Socials & Student Engagement –Organise fun socials followed by discussions for students to share their ideas and make their voices heard.

My passion for GP stems from breaking the stereotype of it being “the easy option". For me, GP is a privilege—treating patients of all ages in a continuous and caring way. Whether you want to pursue GP, maximise placements, or meet like-minded peers, I want GP Society to be for everyone.

If you have any questions, reach out! My shortcode is np521.

Vote Nivi for GP Society President!
