Hi everyone, I’m Rayan Akhtar, a Third-Year Computing student at Imperial, and I’m running for Sponsor Liaison and Industrial Events Coordinator because I want to connect you with the best industry opportunities and help DocSoc grow even further.
As Sponsorship Manager at STEMMuslims, I’ve gained experience working with companies to secure partnerships and funding for events. I understand the importance of building strong relationships with industry partners, and I’d love to bring this experience to DocSoc to help you access top-tier career opportunities.
If elected, my focus will be on building strong industry connections and securing big-name sponsors like Google, Samsung, Amazon, and Microsoft. I want them as official partners, so you can connect with them through networking events, talks, and recruitment opportunities. I also aim to organise coding workshops, panel discussions, and career-focused events that offer valuable insights and skill-building opportunities.
I want to make sure that all students, from freshers to final years, have the chance to engage with industry, develop their skills, and secure internships or jobs with leading companies. I want to remove barriers to entry such as being a penultimate year student, and I plan to achieve this through liasing with our sponsors to get more flexible placements.
