Barna Berczy
Hello everyone! My name is Barna, and I am a first-year Earth and Planetary Sciences student on the Geophysics stream. I am running for the role of Sponsorhip Officer because I want to ensure the Geophysics Society has the financial stability to support exciting trips, events, and opportunities for all members.
I have previous experience handling society finances, having served as Secretary for the Earth Sciences Society at my previous college in Hungary. In that role, I managed funds, secured sponsorships, and ensured budgets were well-balanced for field trips, events, and other expenses. I actively communicated with alumni and academia to secure funding, and I also searched for scholarships that could benefit both the society and its members, helping to reduce costs and increase participation.
If elected, my priority would be to stabilize the society’s financial status by securing funding through grants, sponsorships, and university support. My goal is to make society events more accessible and affordable, whether it’s through organizing a long-awaited geophysics field trip or budget-friendly smaller events such as day trips and site visits.
Ultimately, my goal is to build a vibrant and engaging Geophysics Society—one where students from all years can connect, exchange ideas, and participate in meaningful experiences. With careful financial planning and funding opportunities, we can make this happen.
Thank you for your support!
