Hi there! I’m Ian and I’m running for Secretary.
TL;DR: Promote career building, strengthen ties with alumni
Throughout my 2 years at AMSA, I’ve experienced firsthand why we’re known as a home away from home. As our community continues to grow, so will our logistical challenges. Serving as secretary, the organizational backbone of AMSA, will allow me to facilitate a cohesive and meaningful AMSA experience for all.
Aims:
- Promote Career-building
- Launch designated Academic Calendar for research conference dates, ticket sales, and abstract submission in London 2025-26
- Introduce AMSA Career Guidebook for navigating medicine from Y1-postgrad taking into account input from older students, alumni, and clinicians
- Strengthen Ties with Alumni
- Help alumni stay connected by creating an AMSA Alumni Network page on Facebook/Linkedin
- Adding Alumni Section in newsletter with success stories, career tips and advice
- Make AMSA Accessible to New Members
- Launch digital Welcome Guide with resources, roles, and events
- Introduce FAQ page on AMSA England website
- Policies I’ll Continue
- Notifying members of upcoming academic and social events through the AMSA newsletter to retain engagement
- Documenting previous events on AMSA-wrapped and the AMSA website to showcase impact and growth to prospective members
Qualifications:
- UROP - developed proficiency in precise documentation and organizational skills managing literature review project at National Heart and Lung Institute
- AMSEP Officer - exhibited writing proficiency by creating the first ever AMSEP UK brochure for hosting inbound exchanges
- EU Hi-Prix Internship Team Leader - organized digital meetings and coordinated intern team members to complete data collection tasks on pharmaceutical public policy
