Indian: Events Officer

Hello everyone! I’m Yana, a first year computing student, and I’m running to be your Events Officer!

We all know IndianSoc events are the best - from the amazing vibes at Friction, to the grandeur of Utsav, to the chaotic Take Me Out! Each event has so much spirit and community, and has helped me connect with fellow Indians and feel more at home in this amazingly massive university. I have so many fond memories from IndianSoc and my aim is to ensure that not only does this continue to happen in the future, but that we can make these events even better!

So, why me?

Having organised events at my school, such as prom and parties, as well as running my own fundraiser for India during COVID-19, where I raised over £500 for hospitals, I feel that this role is perfect for me - and I will be dedicated to making these events bigger (by collaborating more with other unis’ Indian societies) and better than ever. Some of my ideas include: choosing a better location for Utsav, which will be bigger and more central, and also moving it to a weekend; moving the Take Me Out event to the Imperial campus (which, let’s be honest, is much much better than KCL); and looking into new event ideas (including free events!) suggested by our awesome society members such as Bollywood nights, karaoke, movie nights, and much more!

Thank you for reading my manifesto, and I hope that you will consider voting for me!
