Symriti Kaur-Paneser
I’m Symi, and I’m running to be your Aca Chair!
When I first auditioned, I had no idea that A Cappella would become one of the most defining parts of my university life. Four years later, I’ve held three subcommittee positions (including Social Sec and Interim President), served as MD for three years, arranged and run five collabs, and this year, been part of the core committee as Aca Sec.
Through it all, I’ve seen what makes this society special—our passion, talent, and incredible community. But I’ve also noticed something holding us back: we often operate as six separate groups rather than one united society. While independence is important, our greatest strength lies in collaboration. Having built strong connections with other A Cappella societies, I’ve seen how they thrive by lifting each other up, supporting one another, and sharing knowledge.
I want to bring us closer together, not just socially, but through the thing that unites us: music. Whole-society workshops on arranging, choreography, VPing, and belting—led by our own members—would help us learn from each other and celebrate our talent. Having already run arranging workshops and helped multiple groups, I’ve seen how valuable this can be.
Beyond this, I’d prioritise transparency and organisation, ensuring fairness in busking rotas, clear communication, and strong advocacy for performances and sound checks.
This society has given me so much, and in my final year, I’d love the chance to give back as Chair—fostering unity, championing collaboration, and helping Imperial A Cappella shine even brighter!
