Ravit Dewan

Hi everyone! My name is Ravit. I'm a third year, and I am excited to apply for the role of Secretary of Ophthalmology.

I am very interested in pursuing a career in ophthalmology and have accrued many contacts within the speciality through my time at placement. I am passionate about research and am in the process of conducting a study with ICORG (Imperial College Ophthalmology Research Group). I have also undertaken literature reviews within the field of surgery.

Beyond ophthalmology, I have society experience as a subcommittee member of Surgsoc. Helping with the trauma conference and CPA mocks has given me valuable experience in how large events are run. I was able to see firsthand how the secretary liaised with the union, and I look forward to bringing these organisational skills into my role in ophthalmology. My time in StreetDoctors has also honed my skills of time management and general administration, both of which are valuable as a secretary.

I am also looking forward to providing many opportunities as a committee member. I greatly enjoyed the ophthalmology conference this year, and I believe delegates would benefit from a separate event around building a strong ophthalmology portfolio. In addition, a Duke Elder teaching series would be extremely valuable and something I would look forward to being a part of.

I am passionate about making ophthalmology more engaging, and I’d love the chance to contribute to this amazing society.
