As someone who’s played for the Imperial Hockey Women’s 1st team, hits the gym regularly, and enjoys sports like climbing, badminton, netball, and dodgeball, I know how sports bring people together. Whether it’s friends having a kickabout or a team uniting against a rival, sport builds connections and creates unforgettable memories.
As your Sports Officer, I want to get more people involved in sports, both recreationally and competitively. Let’s face it—we do physics. Instead of sitting all day grinding through differential equations and being sad (we’ve all been there), let’s get up, move our bodies, and have some fun! I’ll organize casual sessions for sports like badminton, basketball, dodgeball, and indoor football, open to everyone. I’ll also run polls to see what activities people are most excited about and work with Ethos to book courts. For those who want friendly competition, I’ll arrange matches against other departments and even set up a tournament if there’s enough interest—perfect for anyone who wants to play without a huge commitment.
Having been on a university sports team and managed social media for a society, I understand the logistics behind organizing sports—booking courts, managing schedules, and coordinating teams. I’m ready to bring that experience to the Physics Society to make sports accessible, fun, and inclusive for everyone.
Let’s bring some balance to our physics grind with fun, active sessions that bring us closer together. Vote for me, and let’s make this year the most active and exciting one yet!
