Shiromi Patrick

Hi I am Shiromi and I am a fourth year medical student. I'm applying to be publicity officer for NeuroSoc. Having a deep interest in neuroscience, alongside an interest in art and creativity, I believe that I would be suited for this position.

My experience involves being the current publicity officer for ICSM Paediatrics society (and also working on publicity for our conference the previous year) where I have regularly created posts and publicity materials for all our events in a timely manner. I have liaised with several members of committee as part of my role and can be sure to do that with this role too. I have also held many positions on other societies such as secretary, treasurer and school liaison officer in GP and Teddy Bear Hospital, which I believe make me an all rounded candidate.

My aims for the following year, in addition to regularly uploading on socials, is developing LinkedIn allowing us and NeuroSoc members to easily connect and network with those currently in neuroscience careers or those with aspirations for a career in neuroscience. I hope to also work with other committee members to help introduce more events such as talks with those in neuroscience careers, getting start with research and both medical and surgical opportunities. Although a completely different speciality, current networking with paediatric doctors as publicity officer and in subcommittee, has already exposed to me various neuroscience related careers doctors are in and it would be great to showcase this to others.
