Women in SET: Junior Treasurer
Hi! I am Cheryl, a third-year Chemistry student and I am running for Junior Treasurer this year in WSET. Having participated in WSET events, I’ve always been curious about how budgeting, transactions and communication with the union has been handled. My interest in gaining an understanding of financial management and society operations has motivated me to run for the Junior Treasurer role.
As junior treasurer, I will:
- Ensure effective budgeting by allocating funds strategically to support impactful workshops, mentorship programs, and career development opportunities, while balancing both professional and social initiatives to foster career growth and community building.
- Maintain open and transparent communication with the committee and members regarding how funds are used to benefit the society and to align the budget and spending with their interests and needs.
I believe that strong financial management is key to creating an inclusive, well-resourced, and thriving community. With my passion, attention to detail, and commitment, I am eager to contribute to the success of WSET.
