Nuha Mohideen
As the previous head of the TEDx society at my school, I independently led the organisation of our event. Due to the large scale of the event, it enhanced my leadership and communication skills and taught me how to effectively delegate roles and work collaboratively to enhance the organisation of the event. Initially applying for the licence for the event taught me resilience as it required multiple iterations before it was awarded. I was inspired to host so students could share topics they are passionate and knowledgeable about to inspire others to conduct research and innovate in new areas.
I independently organised and hosted a systems engineering conference in January 2023 with leading professors in the areas of Robotics and automation (Professor Kaspar Athoefer, Dr Mohammad hassanazad and Professor Helge wurdmenn).
This year I have been part of the speaker organisation team in tedx (planning tex at imperial) and marketing in sri lankan society (planning saphire ball). Both these roles together have taught me the importance of communication in societies and the variety of roles that are key for a successful event.
Having prepared and organised talks previously I know how passionate each speaker is and how enthralling it is to share your ideas and for that reason I have applied for this role. I would love to help others share their topics they are passionate and knowledgeable about to inspire others to conduct research and innovate in new areas.
