Barna Berczy
Hello everyone!
My name is Barna, and I am a first-year Earth and Planetary Sciences student on the Geophysics stream. I am excited to run for the position of Tour Officer because I believe the Geophysics Society has incredible potential that has not been fully realized in recent years. My goal is to bring fresh energy to the society by organizing engaging trips and events that bring us together.
A key priority for me is to finally make a geophysics field trip happen. This has been long-awaited, and I am committed to delivering an exciting yet affordable trip to a great destination where we can explore real-world geophysics in action.
I have previous experience in organizing field trips, having served as Secretary of the Earth Sciences Society at my previous college. In that role, I successfully arranged field trips and summer camps in and around Hungary, gaining hands-on experience in planning, budgeting, and logistics.
Beyond the main field trip, I want to introduce smaller events such as day trips and site visits, providing more opportunities to explore geophysics outside the classroom. I also aim to contribute to a more active and outgoing Geophysics Society—one where students from all years can meet, socialize, and share ideas.
If elected, I will work hard to bring these ideas to life. Let’s make the Geophysics Society an exciting and welcoming space for all. Thank you for your support!
