Mathematics: Career Events Officer

I love Imperial and the opportunities this institution brings speaks for itself in the stats… but speaking to others and from personal experience, the career events currently offered don't actually help. You deserve career events that directly support your future and I’m going to change that.

One of the best accelerators through the job market is networking events. That may sound scary, but they don’t have to be terrifying things. They can be structured and could have an emphasis on the employers describing what they’re looking for. I will couple these with regular emails and updates when career opportunities arise.

Here’s something that makes my candidacy different: I have been to more networking events than I can remember and I have interacted with both big and small companies. What I’ve realised is that people don’t give the small companies enough credit. In my first year, I landed an internship at a small company who were eager to have someone with the analytical skills we develop, and so allowed me to develop the specific skills I wanted. These skills then helped me get an internship at a much bigger and well-known company in the coming Summer. As your career events officer I will ensure you get opportunities at both large prestigious institutions and innovative smaller firms.

In short, voting for me means electing someone with experience who will support you with the opportunities most likely to lead to career success.
