Nilani Nithiyananthan

Hi! My name is Nilani and I would love to be publicity officer for ICOGS!

I am enthusiastic about helping our society grow and ensuring that our events are well-publicised, informative, and accessible to students interested in this rewarding specialty. My initial interest in obstetrics and gynaecology sparked during my placements, where I gained valuable insights into the specialty and developed a deep appreciation for the care and dedication involved. This passion motivates me to share the importance of this rewarding specialty with my peers and ensure that our society’s events and initiatives reach a wide audience. I previously worked as part of the publicity team for the national undergraduate respiratory conference earlier this year, by collaborating with colleagues to create posts and a booklet to promote the conference. Additionally, my previous roles in other committees, including Secretary, Sponsorship Officer, and Treasurer, has allowed me to not strengthen my organisational and teamwork skills, but has solidified my ability to collaborate with my fellow committee members effectively.

My aims:

• Increase the use of our LinkedIn account to promote conferences and events with those within the profession and broaden our initiatives to a wider audience
• Continue to frequently post on the Instagram page and Linktree for the society to engage with medical students and raise more awareness about this exciting field
• Leverage Whatsapp group chats and the ICSMSU newsletter to regularly update students on upcoming activities
