This year I’ve been more involved in Paediatrics' society, attending the Paediatrics conference and attending every playteam session I possibly could. I would love to have the chance to get even more involved with the society, especially Playteam.
I would be suited to this role following my experience as Teddy Bear Hospital’s Equipment Officer. We kept track of and brought equipment for the school visits every single week. In doing this, we created a comprehensive list of items in a very extensive, and time-consuming, process. I think this would really help in Playteam as Play coordinator to keep track of items and keep things organised and running smoothly. Additionally, it would make it easier for volunteers to know which toys are available when children want specific toys. For example, we only found out there was a 3DS the children could use over halfway through the year which could have been super helpful to make some of the older children’s hospital stays just that little bit less boring.
Another aspect of this role was communicating with the wider committee for collaborations and projects with other societies which would be intrinsically linked to this role through communicating with the Playteam Chair and Treasurer. This role also involved ordering and organising new equipment for the visits which would help with keeping the playteam cupboards stocked with toys for all the children to enjoy!
I look forward to being able to continue to be a part of the Paediatrics' community at Imperial.
