Hi, I’m Isabella!
After being part of OncoSoc subcommittee this year, I would love the opportunity to be part of committee next year as your Conference Lead!
I intend to bring two ideas to make Oncology Society’s conference even better:
Firstly, I would like to organise a workshop to highlight the role genomics can play in surgical oncology, such as focusing on the role of ctDNA (circulating tumour DNA) analysis prior and post-surgical removal of tumours, and its role in predicting reoccurrence and prognosis. Having worked in a laboratory specialising in cancer genomics and viral variants during my gap years, I’ve built connections within this field which can allow for this to happen.
To maximise engagement within our conferences, I would also like to approach the possibility of hosting an additional conference focusing on Medical Oncology discussing advancing treatments such as immunotherapy, and the role of the microbiome in this condition. I also intend to further our collaborations with other universities, not only in London but across the UK.
I am a hard-working and sociable person, who has a passion for Oncology. My aim is to make our conferences stand out from the crowd and allow attendees to leave the day feeling excited about the ever-changing field of Cancer!
Thank you for reading :)
