Riya Sharma

Hi, I'm Riya, a first year medical student and I'm excited to be running for the role of sponsorship officer! Ophthalmology is a field which greatly excites me, and I've conducted research within the field about the implemenetation of AI for the diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy as part of my EPQ project.

I believe I am well suited for this role due to my previous experience working with charities during school. I had the opportunity to collaborate with organisations like Breast Cancer Now, where I helped develop and implemenet various fundraising initiatives. This role allowed me to develop good communication skills in order to maintain meaningful partnerships to acheive our shared goals. I have honed my ability to liase with partners and I'm confident that these skills will be invaluable in securing funding, resources, and new opportunities.

As the next sponsorship officer, I would look forward to diversifing out sponsors so our society can gain a variety of enriching insights into this evolving field. By expanding our network I aim to support the prosperity of our society and ensure we have access to the resources needed to grow and thrive.
