Taz Ali
Hello, I’m Taz, a 3rd-year medical student with a strong interest in ophthalmology. My own experiences in the ophthalmology unit in hospital have played a huge role in shaping my passion for this field - from witnessing life-changing procedures to seeing the profound impact that early intervention can have on patients' quality of life. These experiences have inspired me to get more involved, and I would love the opportunity to contribute as a General Member of the Ophthalmology Society.
During my time in medical school, I’ve been actively involved in student societies, including serving as a Welfare Officer with Muslim Medics and participating in various community campaigns. These roles have strengthened my teamwork, organization, and communication skills - qualities I believe are essential in helping run a successful society that benefits both students and professionals alike.
If elected, I’d love to help grow the society by making events as engaging and accessible as possible. Whether it’s organizing speaker sessions, workshops, or networking opportunities, my goal is to help create an environment where students can explore ophthalmology in an interactive and inspiring way. I also want to ensure that anyone interested in the field—whether they’re just curious or already set on pursuing it - feels welcome and supported.
Ophthalmology is an exciting, rapidly advancing field, and I’d love to play a role in helping more students discover it. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to contributing and working with you all!
