Nivi Parthieban
My name is Nivi and I am a 4th-year medical student! Throughout my studies, I’ve experienced firsthand how invaluable the educational initiatives of our medical societies have been. Unique mnemonics, relatable teaching from those who’ve “been there”, and genuine support have made a real difference. Now, I’m excited to give back and ensure our GP Society’s education team remains one that ICSM can love and trust.
I plan to build on this legacy by:
- Enhancing Placement Learning: I will push for longer GP slots during placement days. This will allow us to discuss key conditions, engage in meaningful patient interactions, and learn in a safe, low-pressure environment.
- Structured Peer Support: I intend to set up a mentoring scheme linking junior students with experienced peers. This will guide newcomers through their medical journey and ensure no one feels lost.
- Increasing Engagement & Inclusivity: I will create more student-led discussions and socials where students can share ideas on how to improve GP education.
- Career Insights: By inviting practicing professionals to share their career journeys, we can inspire and prepare for the realities of GP practice.
My passion for GP stems from breaking the stereotype of it being “the easy option.” For me, GP is a privilege—treating patients of all ages in a continuous, caring relationship. Regardless of your career goals, I want GP Society to be accessible and engaging for all.
If you have any questions, please reach out. My shortcode is np521.
