Malaysian: External Liaison Officer

Why settle for less, why even settle for enough, when we can have MORE.” These were the thoughts in my head when I was thinking about reasons as to why ICUMS needs more funding and sponsors. As it stands, we already have multiple sponsors backing the club, but I believe that we can do more. Ergo, it provides the new ELOs a unique opportunity and challenge to push the club forward. This is the very reason the ELO role excites me, and it was the final push that solidified my decision to stand as a candidate for this role.

But the question remains; who am I and why do I believe I am able to take on this role? One of my notable experience is being part of the Step Up and Step It Up recruitment programme by the Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA) which was a workshop-audition hybrid. Here, I was taught by my experienced seniors on how to handle event proposals and reaching out to external parties. Central to this training was the planning of a mock up orientation event which taught me what it takes to plan a successful event, and the outreach needed to do so.

MY ELO ROADMAP (for more detailed explaination refer to the full manifesto)

TARGET 1: Improving and revamping ALL career events introduced by previous ELOs

TARGET 2: Capture the Malaysian audience (using social media)

TARGET 3: Answering the calls for more STEM oriented sponsors

TARGET 4: Increasing alumni involvement in ICUMS
