Amanda Nielsen

Hello! My name is Amanda. As an aspiring Ophthalmologist I am really keen to create opportunities to encourage others to get involved in research further their learning about the latest advancements in ophthalmology. Ophthalmology is an ever-changing field with new techniques constantly being implemented and discoveries being made, which is why research in this speciality is so exciting.

Currently in my second year, I know how daunting the idea of doing research is, not to mention starting out in the first place. In this position I hope to offer support to students interested in learning more about ophthalmology, to build the connections, find the opportunities which will allow them to build the skills needed in academic medicine.

Through a combination of workshops, talks and events I would help to foster connections between students and professionals to increase accessibility to students like myself into this field. Thank you for reading my manifesto and please vote for me!
