Hridima Bhattacharya

Hello everyone, I’m Hridima and I am running for the role of cultural officer. If elected, my main aim would be to create an inclusive and vibrant environment that celebrates many different aspects of Hinduism.

My plans include organising temple visits, where members can come together and take part in Aartis and Poojas. To highlight the diversity within Hinduism, I would like to organise events that incorporate rituals from as many different cultures as possible, allowing members to appreciate the complexity and vastness of Hindu culture. Raising money for charity will be a key focus at all of our events, using our celebrations as an opportunity to give back to the wider community.

Furthermore, to foster a real sense of community, I would set up Bhajan sessions and dance performances, in which a large number of people will be encouraged to participate and perform. Classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam have been used as a form of storytelling for thousands of years and I would like to nurture this rich tradition within our Hindu society.

This year, I have really enjoyed attending the various events organised by HSoc and they have given me a true sense of belonging. I would be delighted to play a more active role in HSoc next year and cultivate a stronger sense of unity within the community.
